Where it leads
Madchester
Guitar bands playing to a dancefloor clock: loose drums, wah pedals, 808s and a city on E.
Manchester Post-Punk
Before the baggy trousers: basslines, empty space, and a city building its own outlets.
Chicago House
A drum machine, a cheap sampler and a church-raised voice — the blueprint every dance record still borrows.
