Where it leads
Minneapolis Sound
Linn drums, Oberheim stabs, no horn section: funk rebuilt by one city's worth of overlapping bands.
Chicago House
A drum machine, a cheap sampler and a church-raised voice — the blueprint every dance record still borrows.
Detroit Techno
Drum machines built into science fiction: Black futurism from a collapsing motor city, made for the floor.
